Shining Force III Scenario 2: Target: Child of God
Chapter 1: The Journey of the Third Prince
Saraband Imperial District
Script typed up by: Chris Spiral
Script translated by: Dantares (Aspinia Team)
Grandpa:
When there are two princes in the Empire, the future looks pretty steady. When you, the third prince, came into being, the future did not look as steady. Emperor Domaric does like you, but your half-brothers do not
Grandma:
Being the third prince in the kingdom, the road ahead for you will be difficult. While the future is rough, do not be shameful of your mother.
Young Man:
Are you also looking for the masked monk?
(Yes/No)
Woman:
Prince Medion and Sir Campbell are searching for a masked monk? Such a person may not even exist in Saraband.
Imperial Soldier 1:
Since the other prince's armies are here guarding the town, you can freely take your time and explore the town.
Imperial Soldier 2:
Prince Mageron's grace and Prince Arrawnt's dignity are a suitable image for the Destonia Empire. The lineage of the Empire has in every respect always been unbalanced. Some may think that you are the factor that unbalances the royalty.
Imperial Soldier 3:
The other two princes are respected by people, even in the Republic. But the third prince is not as highly respected. To carry out the law, and for your own safety, you cannot pass here until the night comes.
Imperial Soldier 4:
Since Emperor Domaric went to the conference, only the other two princes may reside here. I have not received word that you may pass yet.
Aunt in Private House 1:
The Empire?s armies instill fear in me. However, right now they are merely stationed here. We of Saraband cannot let the empire know that we are frightened by them.
Guy in Private House 1:
It is good that Emperor Domaric did not have to stay in the east district of Saraband. He would be frightened by the Republican soldiers all around him, and that would result in a shortage of sleep.
Girl in Private House 1:
My parents were former members of the Empire, but it was too hard of a living for them there, so they came here when I was born.
Young Man in Private House 2:
Many of the people in Saraband have migrated here from the Empire. The Empire's army stationed here for the conference is causing unrest in all the people here. They all knew that the first and second prince's armies would be here, but the appearance of the third prince's army is causing even more unrest in the people.
Woman in Private House 2:
So you are the third prince, Prince Medion? You don't smell as bad as they say. You're pretty cute, too. That's nothing to be ashamed of. That's just a rumor, anyway. If you become the ruler, I'm sure the Empire will flourish under you.
Boy in Private House 2:
Hey, your big brother is Prince Mageron! He's why the Destonia Empire is my favorite. What do you think?
Soldier 1 in Imperial Guard's Barracks:
The first and second princes are treated with much respect. However, they treat the third prince very coldly, because of his mother's lineage. Their mother is the Emperor's lawful wife. She is of the aristocracy, of the first class. I hear that the third prince?s mother is just a commoner.
Soldier 2 in Imperial Guard's Barracks:
Do the imperial guard soldiers know something?
(Yes/No)
Soldier 3 in Imperial Guard's Barracks:
As a mere soldier, the road towards success is long and arduous. Hopefully, one day I shall become a knight.
Soldier 4 in Imperial Guard's Barracks:
I never really had high hopes for becoming a ranking officer. I am quite satisfied as a simple Imperial guards soldier.
Soldier 5 in Imperial Guard's Barracks:
In the Empire, you cannot change your position in society. You are born into a caste, and it cannot almost ever change. I cannot have a dream in such a nation.
Soldier 6 in Imperial Guard's Barracks:
Your job type is based upon your social status here, and each one is different. For instance, the Saraband soldier has an obligation to this establishment. It differs from the soldiers in the dormitory in the west district.
Base
Grantack:
At any time, if you have a question about someone, just consult the dictionary on the bookshelf of the base. I'm sure it will be very useful.
Grantack:
The monks had quite a large amount of gunpowder. Could they have been aiming towards the failure of the peace conference? There are those who are against this conference. Such talk is heard throughout both nations.
Campbell:
I wonder why the masked monk wanted to stop the conference. And more importantly, how did he enter Saraband?
Voice:
OH NO WAIT A SEC!!
Grantack:
It seems like some commotion over there.
Campbell:
Then we must intervene immediately.
Grantack:
All right, hold it right there!!!
Dantares:
You must be Sir Campbell of the Empire, and the Emperor's youngest son, Prince Medion.
Medion:
Yes I?m Medion.

Campbell:
That gentleman there is Sir Dantares. Some say he is even stronger than myself.
Imperial Soldier 1:
(shocked) Even stronger than Sir Campbell?
Imperial Soldier 2:
Boy, we sure picked a great guy to get into a fight with!
Campbell:
Well, I'm not going to force you to stop, but I wouldn't fight him. So what's your decision?
Campbell:
Well, you've been quite rude, I hope they forgive you.
Dantares:
It looks like your timely arrival saved us some unpleasantness.
Campbell:
Don't mention it. I just spared some Imperial lives.
Synbios:
In front of Prince Medion and Sir Campbell, I must apologize. This commotion was caused by our intrusion into the Imperial district of Saraband. Please forgive us.
Medion:
It is we, the Imperial army, who must apologize to you for acting so rude.
Synbios:
It?s wonderful that the prince of the Empire is so forgiving. I thank you.
Grantack:
If we continue with these formalities, we will be here forever.
Campbell:
I witnessed your battle fury firsthand, Sir Dantares, in the past border disputes. I am not looking forward to facing you in combat anytime soon.
Dantares:
I was about to say the same thing about you, Sir Campbell. Your reputation precedes you.
Campbell:
Is that next to you, by any chance, Lord Synbios, the son of the famous Lord Conrad?
Synbios:
Yes, I am Synbios of Flagard. I am glad to see that my father is still remembered in the Empire.
Medion:
Your father is still considered a hero in the Empire. So, you are his son...
Dantares:
Either way, it is not a coincidence that we met here in the Imperial district.
Grantack:
Coincidence, possibly. We are actually investigating some mysterious masked monks, who were about the cargo area before.
Grace:
Masked monks!?
Explosions!!!
Synbios:
Saraband is under attack!!! Could this be an attempt to stop the peace conference?
Medion:
I see now... those explosives were for this occasion?
Grantack:
It is obviously the answer, however, why??
Campbell:
It could be the mysterious masked monks, but for now, we must leave. It is best for us both to return to our separate camps to asses the damages.
Medion:
Lord Synbios, we must head back? The timing is unfortunate as I think we have much in common. Let us be sure to talk again.
Synbios:
Yes, we should return to our camp. It is unfortunate that we are being interrupted as such, Prince Medion, we must be sure to talk again, it truly was an honor to meet you.
Campbell:
Could it be that these explosions are caused by the gunpowder we discovered? This commotion therefore could've been prevented!!
Grantack:
Though the purpose of this attack is perplexing, we must investigate later. We shall return to our camp for the time being.
Campbell:
The desire to look for these masked monks is well-founded. However, it is a better idea to temporarily return to our camp and wait.
Grandpa:
Ughh?. The smell of gunpowder and explosions, is this how modern wars are fought? In my day, battles were fought with daggers and swords. Does the strategy of war change with the times?
Grandma:
The sound of the explosion hurts! It surprised me that nothing near me was hit, I am very fortunate!!
Young Man:
Why Saraband, the neutral city?? Wouldn't they try to invade somewhere else!!??
These kinds of things destroy countries. But to stop the neutral profits of Saraband makes no sense. This could have serious economic effects on both the Republic and the Empire. Could this bombing be an invitation to a revolt of the merchant corps?
Woman:
AAIIEEEE!!! WHY! (Cough) I knew it was a mistake holding the peace conference here! The terrorists aims at murdering an important person, either Emperor Domaric, or King Benetran. But where did they bomb us from??
Soldier 1:
Was that an invasion attempt, or the bombardment of Saraband? Did it become this bad overnight?
Soldier 2:
There was an Imperial guardsman who left the district earlier. It is most likely that he has already made it to the general-governor district.
Oh hang it all!! I will probably be given a demerit mark for saying such things. So much for my hope of moving up the ranks.
Imperial Soldier 2:
Excluding the Emperor, all the important people from the Empire are waiting at camp. You may wait there for your two half-brothers to return.
Imperial Soldier 3:
Using your elder brother's gentle words, it would be hard to enter the camp during the day. Your elder brother hopes you will not forget the respect given here.
Imperial Soldier 4:
The bombardment was clearly heard here. You must not lose your nerve when such disasters occur. Though you are not from a distinguished family, you must still act like you are from one.
Base
Grantack:
If you end up facing Prince Mageron or Prince Arrawnt, do not get discouraged. Though it may be depressing, you must stand tall.
Campbell:
Due to the explosion, did Saraband sustain large amounts of damage? An Imperial marshal is walking around the camp for now. Hopefully, this will show the terrorist's true intentions.
Campbell:
I just thought, where have Uryudo and Syntesis gone?
Grantack:
As I recall, they were after the heretic monk. I wonder if they have left the district on their search?
Medion:
............
Campbell:
I hope they were safe through the explosion. Only time will tell.
Grantack:
Until calm has been restored, we cannot safely judge where they are or what has happened to them.
Campbell:
Though I am not a politician, I say that we enter the conference and see what is happening.
Syntesis:
When we were looking for the cowardly masked monk, the explosions started.
Uryudo:
The masked monks could have used that gunpowder to cause the explosions.
Syntesis:
If they did cause this commotion, what could their aim have been?
Uryudo:
While I'm not so sure about their reasoning, our find of the gunpowder was definitely an important one.
Syntesis:
I hope that Medion did not get lost in his searches.
Uryudo:
Yes, Medion did look in a different direction than us.
Syntesis:
Then let?s finish our searching, so we can get back to camp.
Uryudo:
I thought I saw the monk facing the dormitory.
Syntesis:
Well, our camp is where the unpleasant princes are staying. Let's not look too hard, because we may have to deal with the princes.
Uryudo:
Just because we are looking for this monk, we don't have to go inside the building. Come to think of it, I don't know why a monk would go in there. I know I don't feel like going in.
Syntesis:
The feeling is mutual. That attitude is one that even Medion shares with us. Still, we do have a job to do, even if it includes going in there.
Uryudo:
Syntesis, are you sure it's a good idea to go now? Shouldn't we wait until the commotion quiets down?
Syntesis:
Yes, but the sooner we get it done, the sooner we can leave here.
Uryudo:
Syntesis, do you see that? Someone is there!
Syntesis:
Yes, its General Crewart. Why would he be here now? It looks almost like he's waiting for someone.
Crewart:
Aren't you a bit late? Was there a problem?
Fiale:
The son of Conrad should've met his match by now. He tried to be a thorn in our side, he will learn his lesson.
Syntesis:
!!!!!!!!
Crewart:
And so he is no longer a threat to our plan?
Fiale:
Benetran has not been taken, as of yet. As he passes their camp, I will come from the west with the Emperor.
Crewart:
This is serious. Synbios must not be allowed to escape through the pier. Make sure the defense soldiers are positioned at the pier.
Fiale:
Don't worry. We will proceed according to plan. Synbios was merely a stumbling block, we are now past him.
Crewart:
If we don't finish on time, you shall have the pleasure of explaining it to the governor general himself.
Syntesis:
What are they talking about? Benetran, the Republican King, Garvin, the governor-general, are they all involved in a plot?
Uryudo:
I don't understand what I'm hearing, Syntesis. I thought the King Benetran was a good guy.
Syntesis:
Uryudo, we should follow them.
Uryudo:
Follow them?? What are you talking about?
Syntesis:
I bet they are all in on something together.
Uryudo:
Even if you tried to go after them, how do you know you could take care of yourself if something went wrong?
Syntesis:
You?re right, let's go back to base and tell the others.
Uryudo:
We must tell Prince Medion and Sir Campbell about this right away!
