CATACOMBS
ON THE MIDWAY
Dantares:
We have finally gotten inside Aspia. If we follow this underground path, we'll be able to rescue Algernon.
Basanda:
I was waiting for you, Synbios.
Synbios:
.....
Basanda:
Say hello to General Spiriel... This is the power of the all mighty Dark Force! It heals even the most critical wounds and rules over death.
Spiriel:
Sweet, beautiful, and powerful... As long as the Dark Force exists, the Bulzome Sect can't be defeated.
Basanda:
The Imperial army, by joining us, have learned the beauty of the Dark Force... But, you...
Murasame:
So then, the Imperial armies did conspire with you and battled their way into Aspia...
Basanda:
If you allied with us, Aspia would not have to be destroyed.
Dantares:
Aspia destroyed? As long as we're alive, that's not going to happen!
Basanda:
I'll make sure to rectify that... But, since the Colossus is active again, it's only a matter of time before Aspia is reduced to ashes and Bulzome is revived.
Palsis:
What... What did you say...? The Colossus...? The giant statue... unearthed in Aspia... Is that the guardian deity of the Vandal kingdom?
Basanda:
Ahh! So you have heard of the Colossus... It received power from the Dark Force, and has awakened. With the destruction and chaos the Colossus will create, Bulzome will be revived to rule over the land once again.
Synbios:
.....
Basanda:
The Dark Force emitting from this staff allows me to control the Colossus without the aid of Bulzome himself. There is no way to stop the Colossus! This is your chance for revenge for the last time, Spiriel. Bring down Synbios' battalion!
Murasame:
Could it be... The Colossus, the guardian deity of the Vandal kingdon has reawakened?
Palsis:
I don't see why Basanda would lie. If that staff is the key to controlling the Colossus, take out Basanda and steal that staff!
ADVICE
Palsis:
Don't let Basanda take control of the Colossus! We must get past Spiriel, and defeat Basanda.
AFTER THE BATTLE
Basanda:
I can't believe I was defeated... It seems I underestimated Synbios' forces again.
Synbios:
.....
Basanda:
It must be the strength of an army with its hearts united... Unthinkable for we of Bulzome...
Murasame:
Yes, I understand, Duke Palsis. I shall destroy the staff with the Dark Force power.:Yarrrggg!
Basanda:
That was not my doing... However, one who has not given his soul to the Dark Force, cannot touch, let alone destroy, that staff.
Dantares:
Basanda, you...Where do you think you're going?
Basanda:
If you wish to get rid of this staff, you'd better let me on my way. Without this staff, the Imperial armies who now worship Bulzome will be unable to control the Colossus.
Synbios:
.....
Basanda:
Instead, the Colossus will rise from Aspia Castle's moat and attack anybody who tries to cross the stone bridge!
Palsis:
What...? Basanda... You were deceiving us all along!
Basanda:
I am Basanda, High Priest of Bulzome... What makes you think I care about you or what you think? Ha Ha Ha! No matter what happens, Bulzome will be revived!
Synbios:
.....
Dantares:
It's no use... The staff with the Dark Force... sunk into the water... with Basanda.
Murasame:
Judging from the color, the water there is very deep, and runs toward the moat. There's nothing we can do...
Palsis:
Even if we got the staff with the Dark Force, it's of no use to us since we aren't capable of holding it... In order to save Aspia and the Kingdom from falling under control of Bulzome, we must defeat the Colossus. We must try our best, Synbios!
IF SPIRIEL NOT KILLED
Spiriel:
What was the meaning behind that conversation with Basanda...? It seemed as if the Imperial armies... collaborated with the sect. If all this is true... Then is everything I've been taught so far just a lie? I have been told that the Republic betrayed the Empire... and are unforgivable traitors. Has the Republic always been correcting and covering up the Imperials wrong-doings? I'm confused! I can no longer help the Empire... However, I don't want to help the Republic either. What should I do...?
HEADING FURTHER INTO THE CATACOMBS
Aspia Soldiers:
Are you... by any chance... Lord Synbios from Flagard?
You are indeed Lord Synbios... and on top of that, Duke Palsis is with you!
Aspia Soldier:
The Imperial army has taken control of Aspia castle! If you proceed, you will be trapped like rats!
Synbios:
.....
Left Aspia Soldier:
When the Imperial army raided the castle, we managed to sneak out in the chaos... We then hid inside the ruins.
Dantares:
Have you, by any chance, seen Algernon, the son of Tristus?
Left Aspia Soldier:
If I remember correctly, the commander of the Imperial army, Arrawnt, kept him near by...
Palsis:
It seems Algernon is being kept in their custody in order to keep the Malorian army at bay. That way, they can take out the Republican armies one at a time. An ingenious plan...
Murasame:
In that case, we have no choice but to fight fair and square against the Empire and the Colossus by ourselves.
Palsis:
It seems so... but wait... If we play our cards right, we may be able to make the Colossus work for us... Now that Basanda's power is no longer controlling it... The Colossus doesn't care about the Empire or the Republic. If we can take advantage of that, maybe... If I remember correctly, in the ruins... Isn't there a path that leads to the stone bridge in front?
Aspia Soldiers:
If you go this way, take the stairs there... and take the road ahead, you can get to the bridge. But you don't think... you can fight the Imperial army... and win?
Palsis:
Because of what Basanda said, we may have an opportunity to win this battle... Let's go ahead, Synbios.
Left Aspia Soldier:
I will guard this entrance... No one will be able to enter Aspia castle. I wish you well in your battles ahead.
Right Aspia Soldier:
I don't believe that Synbios' forces have even the slightest chance to win this battle, but... Good luck anyway...!
WHEN LEAVING CATACOMBS TO BRIDGE
Fynnding:
Wait...! Please, wait a minute!
Dantares:
Oh, you... I've seen you before..
Fynnding:
Yes... I was in the prison in Malorie castle. I'm Fynnding, a birdman.
Synbios:
.....
Fynnding:
We must not forget about Lord Tristus... He knows that Wilmer has been defeated, and has gone back to normal!
Murasame:
That means... Lord Tristus plans to invade Aspia, even if that means sacrificing the life of Algernon...
Fynnding:
That's why I came to warn you... He's already made his decision, and is trying to find a way to implement it.
Synbios:
.....
Fynnding:
I came to Aspia to get information... What the heck is that thing in the moat!?!
Dantares:
So, it really is there... The Colossus truly does exists...
Fynnding:
I didn't just see it, I was attacked by it! What's stranger is that the Imperial army is split up in two regiments. They are standing on both sides of the moat...
Palsis:
The Imperial army is split in two...? That's even better for us.
Fynnding:
I figured I'd be safe as long as I stayed at the center of the bridge, so i was hovering there for awhile... And then....? I beg your pardon? What do you mean by "better for us"?
Palsis:
Did you hear that, Synbios? The Colossus doesn't seem to react very quickly. We may be able to win!
Fynnding:
I'm not sure what makes things so good for us, but I should tell you the message I received from Tristus. He wishes to have a military strategy meeting with Lord Synbios and his army in regards to regaining control over Aspia. He would like you to go to Malorie castle as soon as possible.
Murasame:
He wants us to return to Malorie right away?
Fynnding:
If we don't go back right away, Lord Tristus may abandon Algernon and advance his army... I'm begging you!
Dantares:
It is all very possible... Knowing him, Lord Tristus may decide that he cannot leave things up to us. If we don't get back there quickly, he may start mobilizing his army...
Fynnding:
As long as you understand... All right, I guess my work here is done... I must hurry back to Lord Tristus.
Palsis:
I guess we know what to do next... We must return to Malorie at once!
