Saving the Princess

Script typed up by: Magnus Andersson
Talking to a tree in the Mystic Forest:
A beautiful swan adorned with a magical tiara wandered by here heading north. My friends say that she wandered carelessly into the giant spider's web at the top of the forest. I'll instruct the tree blocking the route to move if you promise to rescue her...
When the spider boss is beaten
Satera/swan:
W...what...? Y..you can understand what I'm saying?
Satera/swan:
Wait...you are the one who came to save me the night Pazort turned me into a swan! I knew in my heart that you would find me!
Satera/swan:
But...what shall we do? I can't return to my father like this! He'd have me for dinner before he knew I was his daughter!
Satera/swan:
Well, I'm sure you have a master plan, so I'll just follow you..um....Mars, isn't it?
back in town
All men in town:
(These messages are at random)
Sir Mars, I think you are better served getting the town maidens to worship you. Honestly, what kind of gratification can you gain from a swan's adulation? I say, havingthat varmit follow you around cheapens the image of the Royal Knights.
Ahh...ahem! I don't know if you noticed, Sir Mars, but there's a swan following you!
I'll bet that that swan following you has something to do with your latest adventure, doesn't it?
Woman at inn:
(These messages are at random)
Mars, I'm actually glad to see that you got the swan patrol started. I think it's a much better idea than starting a K-9 for the castle guard. Swans are much prettier than dogs...
Ah, Sir Mars, you are a Knight of the highest dignity and class......wait! Is that a SWAN following you?
Sir Mars, what are you doing with a pet swan? Don't you know people are talking? It's not really appropriate for a Knight of your stature to be attracting strange pets.
Woman (blond):
If you go out through the town gate and head north along the river, you'll find the Gudo Valley on your right and the Mystic Wood on your left.
Guards:
(These messages are at random)
When you left to do the King's bidding, I expected great things. Pet swans were not on that list.
Have you gone mad? The King sent you off on an honorable quest, and you return with a swan?
I like the swan, but hey! Don't you think that Knights have better things to do? I don't think the King promoted you to be some kind of zookeeper.
Man #1 and #2, throne room:
Ahem! You might want to lose your "white shadow" if you don't want to upset the Chancellor.
Man #3, throne room:
Mars, you will grow to overshadow the legend of your father, mark my words.
Man #4, throne room:
Odegan's best scholars have been dearching for a solution to the King's condition. All they've come up with so far is a big, fat NOTHING!...Overpaid weenies!!
Woman #1, throne room:
Ohh, what a beautiful swan! Perhaps the princess will like it. You know, now that I'm looking it seems to have the Princess' eyes! That freaky little fact should endear it to the Princess even more!
Woman #2 and #3, throne room:
My, Sir Mars...that swan seems to really like you!
Woman #4, throne room:
This just goes to show that you can take the boy out of the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the boy...
Chancellor:
What is that...that BEAST doing in this castle?!! Don't you know livestock is forbidden in here? Out......Out...OUT!...and don't you look at me like that, you...you...fowl!!
Sir Kaizel:
Sir Mars, I trust you met the Gudo Fairy and recieved the Whisper Conch? Hmmm, very well, then. I will inform the King of your progress right away. Since you have finished that quest, perhaps your next quest should be to the Millennial Tree. You see, the King has fallen gravely ill since your last visit. The sap from the tree should be just what he needs to return to health.
Scholar in King's bed room:
I've been ordered to cure the King's unusual sickness. But, I am no doctor.
Man in King's bed room:
The King directed me to give you this reward, Sir Mars. Use it in good health! *Mars received the Silver Bottle*
King:
If I question my daughter's intentions, it doesn't mean I love her any less, right? Why is it I can be so kind to a swan but not my daughter...Something's wrong with me.
Woman in Satera's room:
Since the Princess returned, she seems to have changed. In fact, even her morning routine is different! She asked a guard for the key to the Royal Treasury in the middle of the night! At least that's what I heard from the guard posted outside...psst!...I don't trust her...
Satera (fake):
I see that you managed to find that scamp Satera. Too bad no one will believe you. I mean, why should they, when the real Princess stands before them? And, unfortunately for you, that is what they think I am...the REAL Princess. But this juicy little fowl should make a nice treat for father. You know how he likes swan liver pate...Ha Ha Ha...AH...HA HA HA!
Cooks:
Ahh, Sir Mars, you are too kind! The King will be beside himself with joy! He hasn't had his favourite swan liver pate for so long, and here you come in with this beautiful, plump swan!
Scholar in library:
Mars, your excellent work is greatly appreciated. Thanks to you, the Princess is awake, and I can return to my experiments.
At the Millenial Tree
Man outside the tree:
Welcome, traveler! Hav you come in hopes of seeing the Millenial hermit?
Options YES - NO
If yes
Man outside the tree:
Then let me give you a tip. This tree is very particular about who it lets pass, but if you hit its knolls, it will pull away its stickles for a time...
If no
Man outside the tree:
Ahh, then you must have come to gain the sap from the tree. Unfortunately, you must see the hermit to get the sap. If you make it to the top successfully, he will give you a special bottle filled with it.
When the cactus boss is beaten
Hermit:
This is certainly a rare occasion! On brave enough to scale the Millennial Tree has come forth! You must be in great need to risk your life to see me...Ah...wait. It all is very clear to me now. It's the swan, isn't it? This poor swan is not a swan at all, but a tortured soul under a black spell...If it will step forward, I will attempt to reverse the effect of the magic...
Hermit:
Now then, just relax...this will only take a few seconds...
Satera is back to normal
Hermit:
There now! The spell has been defeated! And, my! Look what is revealed...a Princess!
Satera:
I......I don't believe it! I thought I'd never see myself like this again.
Satera:
Oh, sir, I don't know how I can possibly thank you!
Hermit:
No need. No need, little one. Just hurry back to your father. I sense he is in distress...
Satera:
Then...you mean you knew everything from the beginning?...H...how...is that...
Hermit:
Never mind, little one. Suffice to say that I am somewhat of an enigma...hehe, even to myself! But no time for talk! Hurry back to the castle. The King awaits...
Hermit (second time):
Hmmm...a guest...how unusual. It's not often I get visitors ip here. YOu must have come on an urgent matter...So then, speak up. What can I do for you this fine day? Oh...you wanted the sap? Just give me that bottle. I will fill it for you. *The Hermit fills Mars' bottle with sap.* That sap can heal many afflictions. Use it wisely. Did you know that among the Fairies, it is rumored that Pazort plans to revive the Titan! He is planning to steal all the Elemental Orbs to infuse the Dark Titan with power!
Dragon (when leaving the tree):
Curses! Satera has regained her true appearance! I must return to Castle Odegan and alert Mistress Kari!
When you are about to enter the town
Satera:
Oh, Mars! You don't know how happy I am to almost be home! When I think of what that impostor may be doing to my home, my blood boils! I'll meet you at the castle, Mars. I've got a score to settle!
Satera leaves. In the town
Boy outside magicians house:
You know, I think I'm starting to figure this out. I think there's some kinda magic wall up there that leads to the magician's house. I've almost got up the nerve to go up and push on it...
Magician #1:
The treasure which the Black Elf tried to snatch from the King was an Orb containing an Elemental. Legends speak of the tremendous powers that can be gained by equipping an Elemental Orb. Since I've never held one, I can only dream...hoohhmmmm...
Magician #2:
There is secret channel in the Sand Labyrinth that transports sand to fill gaps. I'm not certain, but I think it was activated by a switch...
Magician #3:
They say that the Eart Elemental is in the Pyre Coliseum in the depths of the Sand Labyrinth. Supposedly, only a special stone statue hidden in the Sand Labyrinth will open the door.
Magician #4:
Our ancestors created the switch system in the Sand Labyrinth. Press a switch once and the sand changes to stone. Press it again, and it becomes sand. Both states are useful. For istance, the bridges are more stable as stone.
Magician #5:
The Sand Labyrinth is filled with sand bridges that link formerly inaccessible areas. Unfortunately, the sand is not stable and the bridges are said to collapse easily.
Man at gate:
Did you just see that?!! Princess Satera just walked in from outside UNESCORTED! I must know how this is possible! The King will simply go insane. Oh dear...what if this news pushes him over the edge...Oh...I knew I should have stayed in bed...
Old man outside inn:
Well now, Sir Mars, it looks as if you're growing into the shoes granted you quite nicely. I'm glad for that. ODegan needs another knight of Sir Jiles caliber to make us all proud!
Woman at inn:
A while ago, I saw what I thought was some lunatic digging a hole out front. When I asked him what he was doing, he claimed to be searching for lost treasure.
Bartender:
I'd like to go visit those ol' ale-swilling Hobbits, but I've heard their village is hard to reach. It's isolated from the main port of the western district by some kind waterway. They say you have to use some kinda Electric Bolt to cross it. I dunno...it sounds too complicated for a guy like me. But I sure do miss them little lugs!
Book at inn:
"To the one brave an incisive enough to find this note, I beg for your help. Please come to Hobbit Village of western Odegan in haste!" -Hobbit Elder.
Man in northeast corner:
The desert region to the south is so dangerous no one from Odegan has been there in years. But...if you want to build your character, you may want to try conquering it...
Man at fountain:
Isn't it a beautiful day? I just love walking around aimlessly, soaking up the sun on days like this.
Woman at fountain:
You know, I must be going bonkers! I was sure I just saw the Princess walk into the castle! The funny thing is, she's supposed to be IN the castle already.
Woman outside church:
In fairy tales life is grand, and everything works out for the best. But this is not a fairy tale, and I don't think Princess Satera should be wandering about. The land has become frightfully dangerous lately, and she could be hurt very easily. I wouldn't know what to do if that sweet girl were injured...
Guard #1, main gate:
The lady who just walked in was a dead-ringer for the princess. In fact, WAS it the Princess? I'm so confused...
Guard #2, main gate:
Ahh, Sir Mars! You must be looking out for the wellbeing of the Princess. So tell me, where was she? I didn't see her go out, yet she just walked back in...But, when did she go outside? Or, were we imagining things?
Guard #1, west gate:
Ever since the Black Elf's plan to kidnap Princess Satera was thwarted, things have been quiet around here. No crimes, no loud noises......nothing. Maybe things are finally returning to normal!
Guard #2, west gate:
Thing have been quiet lately, except for the guard on the roof who saw something to the west. He claims it was shimmering...
Castle, first floor
Guard outside west wing:
If the Magic Hand and the Fire Orb are combined, a dragon is supposed to appear! I wonder if the legend's true?
Guard #1, west wing:
I saw Satera walking around the castle in this slinky chiffon number, I mean, what is the King thinking? He never used to allow her to do kooky stuff like that....Not that I'm complaining...
Guard #2, west wing:
Would you believe that our Princess has been taken, and an exact copy left in her place? ......no, I didn't think you would, but that's the rumor going around...
Guard #3, west wing:
I know it was Satera wandering near the Royal Crypt in the dead of night!!
Guard #4, west wing:
Once the Princess was safely rescued from the Royal Crypt, I thought everything would be okay. But, somehow it isn't. She just seems to be different to me. I don't know what's up, but I think we're gonna find out...
Guard #5, west wing:
One of the other guards told me he saw Princess Satera wandering around near the Royal Crypt. The Weird part was that he said it was at MIDNIGHT! I don't believe it. It's just too unlike her...
Guard at entrance:
Welcome back, Mars! I hope your journey went well. Gee, you just have it all. I wish my life was as exciting as yours!
Man #1 next to main hall:
Hmm, those accusations about princess Satera are quite serious. Do you have any proof?
Man #2 next to main hall:
To be honest with you, I feel Satera is acting strangely, too. Though her outward appearance remains the same, something is different inside her.
Guard #1, main hall:
Hey Mars, you just came back from town, didn't you? Do you have any idea where Princess Satera went when she was out?
Guard #2, main hall:
Oh my...Satera is..*sigh*...so very beautiful. It's an honor to even share the same castle with her. ...Huh? She went out alone? How is that possible?
Guard #3, main hall:
I don't understand it, ...the King must have REALLY become lenient. He never used to let the princess walk around unescorted, and now she does it all the time...
Guard #4, main hall:
Ever since the Castle was rescued from imminent danger, I think the other guards have become careless. They are supposed to watch out for the princess, yet they let her roam around alone!
Guard #5, main hall:
As servant to the Royal Family, I am honor bound to do whatever it takes to protect them.
Guard #6, main hall:
I would die a thousand terrible deaths to preserve the honor of our beautiful...Princess...No......really!...okay......um...perhaps only ten really nasty paper cuts...ALL RIGHT! Maybe just one very painful hangnail extraction....
Guard in garden:
Odegan is riddled with secret pasages and long-forgotten buried treasure. One of the most talked about is the Hercules Glove. It lets the wearer lift unwieldly items with ease!
Cook #1:
Lately, the King seems to have lost his appetite again. But the princess...now there's another story entirely. She downed nearly half a side of beef last week! It's startin' to creep me out!
Cook #2:
Ever since Satera was rescued from the Black Elf, I have longed to hear her sweet voice sing again. But every day, nothing but silence...Do you know if she's sad? It's the only reason I can think of to explain this strange behaviour...
Scholar in library:
Once again, i find that I am unable to remove a grave illness from a member of the Royal Family. It seems that I am powerless even to save the King...
Second floor
Guard, east wing:
Standing guard can be so...so boring! Sometimes I find myself fantasizing about Odegan being invaded. I know it's terrible, but warding off invaders would be so...so exciting!
Guard, west wing:
What's going on? Looks like you're in a hurry. If anything's wrong, let me know!
Woman in Satera's room:
I know I shouldn't say this, especially to you, Sir Mars. But, I can't shake the feeling that there's something...well......inhuman about the Princess. It's terrible, but I'm starting to be very afraid when she's around.
Alfred, sleeping quarters:
Mars, how are you? I'm still on guard, no thanks toy uor stellar efforts. Listen, I have to be ready for tonight's shift, can you please let me sleep?
Man in bed #1, sleeping quarters:
Mmmm...Zzz......oh...Zo... ...Zophar my... ....dear... ...oohhh...yeahhhh...Zzz...
Man in bed #2, sleeping quarters:
Mars, I'm letting only you know
Man at table, sleeping quarters:
Mars! Long time no see! Why don't you visit Alfred? He is really depressed.
Guard #1 outside throne room:
I'm glad to see the King back on the throne. Maybe he's feeling better today. he's holding an audience!
Guard #2 outside throne room:
Hmmm...it's awfully quiet in there. Perhaps something is wrong. Why don't you take a peek and fill me in?
cut-scene
King:
But......how can this be?
Chancellor:
Sir, I don't understand how this can possibly happen! There appear to be two identical girls and act like your daughter! Highly irregular...
Sir Kaizel:
You possess a keen sense of the obvious, Chancellor. But one very surely is an impostor.
Satera #1:
Oh Father! look deep within my eyes and all doubt in your mind will fade. I am Satera!
Satera #2:
How dare you manipulate my dear father with your cheap sorcery! Don't look, father! She is trying to keep you under her spell! Listen to me, for I am the true Satera!
Satera #1:
Liar! You have the smooth manner of the deadliest serpent! Father, don't listen to her! I am Satera!
Satera #2:
You are nothing more than a master of seception, taught by Pazort himself! I...must...remember...your true...name......it......it's....Kari!!!
King:
Silence!!....Enough!!!
King:
This is a dilemma set to confound even the wisest who have walked the land. *sigh* ...And now, I must find a way to slove it...hmmm...
Man #1, throne room:
*gulp* Mars, let me ask you something. Is it true that the Princess was a swan?
Man #2, throne room:
I just saw the princess standing by the throne, then, lo and behold, she comes strolling in from here! I am so confused. This has to be some kind of wacky "Parent Trap" thing. But it's not nearly so wacky, nor half as amusing when I'm involved...
Man #3, throne room:
Well...I've been around a long time, but I've never seen anything like this before.
Man #4, throne room:
I...I've heard of a new magic called "plaustik shurgery" where one's appearance can be changed. Is that what has happened to Satera? If it's so, how will the King tell them apart?
Woman #1, throne room:
I was shocked! While the King and Princess were talking, suddenly another identical Princess entered!
Woman #2, throne room:
Sir Mars, look! Two Princesses stand before the King, and each claims to be the genuine one! If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it!
Woman #3, throne room:
Wow! Now THIS is drama. I can hardly look away!
Woman #4, throne room:
First, Satera was standing before the King, then an exact copy of her came forward to join her. It's terrifying, but captivating at the same time! I can't look away!
Man in King's beroom:
Can you believe the nerve of the Princess? I mean, asking that the Treasure key be taken from her father since he's ill!
Scholar in King's beroom:
I think the King's illness might be due to poison. Hmmm...but, the princess has been handling all his food...so that can't be it.
Sir Kaizel:
Mars, did you save one of the these Princesses when she was a swan?
Options YES-NO
If yes
Sir Kaizel:
Oh dear, which one came in last again? This is all so very confusing!
If no
Sir Kaizel:
If you did, then the one that came in later must be the impostor.
Satera #1:
Only Sir Mars is able to tell, right?! Since you rescued me, & turned me back from a swan, you must know who I really am!
Satera #2:
Oh, Sir Mars, what shall we do? The fake looks just like the original. I feel like I'm looking at a mirror.
Chancellor:
How can there be two Sateras?! If the King can't even tell the difference, how will anyone else?
King:
Mmm...yes, it does seem to be the only solution...
King:
No...I can't do it. I am a weak disgrace to Odegan, but I cannot point a sword at my dear Satera.
King:
But, I must discover which is the impostor, for the safety of all Palacia. Kaizel, draw your sword! Strike on eof the girls with a fatal blow. I......don't care *sob*...which...
Sir Kaizel:
But Sir, I..I, too fail this test, for I cannot raise a sword against your very flesh and blood.
King:
Sir Kaizel, that was a direct order!! Do you *sob* know...the punishment for...disobediance??!
Chancellor:
But Majesty, the punishment is just as severe for one who murders a member of royality! Pardon my frank speech, but you are putting Sir Kaizel in an impossible situation...
King:
What do you expect me to do? Run my very progeny through with the sword of my ancestors? I cannot! ...I will not!! But, for the sake of Odegan, the truth must be known!
Sir Kaizel:
B...but...Majesty!
King:
*sob*...Kaizel, if our friendship means anything to you,...do it..for *sob*...me, for Odegan...
King:
Wait! Who is that? Ahh, Mars! YOu have returned amidst a crisis that plauges us...Hmmm, so, you rescued Satera in a swan's form? Then, what this Satera said was true!
Satera #2:
See, father? It is just as I said!
Satera #1:
If it weren't for Sir Mars, I would still be wandering the Mystic Wood as a swan.
King:
Oh dear...just as i thought a ray of hope was cutting through the gloom! We have no way of knowing which Princess came in last...they're mixed up again...
Chancellor:
Hmmm...this seems to become more confusing by the second. Which one ID come in last?
Satera #2:
Chancellor, look at me! Don't you remember? I was the last one to arrive!
Satera #1:
No...NO! It was I who returned by way of the south gate with my rescuer, Sir Mars.
King:
Enough!...SILENCE!
King:
The situation is out of hand, and there is no way to discover who is the real Princess, save on...Mars, you must choose! Once your choice is made, the other will be struck dead.
Chancellor:
Majesty, it is too much to ask of one so young...have you no compassion?
King:
Chancellor, don't you see? Since Mars was the one that rescued my real daughter, ...he is the only one that has a chance of picking which one she is!
King:
Well, Mars...will the Princess on the right be preserved alive? [sic
Options Yes-No
If yes
King:
It has been decided. The Princess on Mars' right shall remain alive.
Kaizel strikes Satera #1/Karry. She jumps and evades the attack
If no
King:
So then, you are saying that the left Princess is the real one, correct?
Options yes-no
If yes
King:
Very well, then. The one on your left shall be deemed the real Princess. Kaizel! Kill the one on Mars' right!!
King:
Kaizel! Kill the one on Mars' right!!
Kaipa strikes
King:
Kaizel, WAIT! She...is the true Princess Satera!
Kaizel:
I see...you're the fake? I can't believe you disguised yourself so cleverly!
Kaizel strikes again
If no
King:
So then, you are saying that the right Princess is the real one, correct?
end of options
Kari:
Hah! Perhaps we underestimated your wisdom, "father!" You are correct. I am not your pathecially sickening daughter. I am Kari, servant of Pazort!
Kari transforms back to normal
Kari:
I thought this charade would last until my work was done, but it was not quite so...But, no matter. You're too late in uncovering our plan! Last night I finally obtained the key to the Royal Treasury. Your hypnotized guards are removing the Orb there using that very key! Ha! Ha! Ha! Pazort's plan to release all the labyrinth Elementals is finally underway!
King:
N...no, it can't be! I have the key to the treasury right...
King:
...oh dear lord...it's gone! They key to the treasury has been stolen!
Sir Kaizel:
If Pazort schemes to release all Elementals, his master plan must be...to release the Dark Titan Zagalt from its...*gasp*...prison!
Chancellor:
Then the legend is true! One is coming to revive the Dark Titan and damn us all!
King:
Indeed! If Zagalt is revived, it would be the end of Odegan...and all Palacia!
Kari:
Exactly. Your paceful, boring world will be replaced with a land where chaos rules supreme!
King:
No,...no...I.....can't let that happen! You must be STOPPED! We must recover the ORB! Chancellor! Seize her!
Kari evades
Hah! Hah! Hah! You'll have to try harder than that, old man. Farewell, fools!:
King:
Chancellor, block all exists with guards to prevent her escape. We must find her and get back that Orb! ...Well, what are you waiting for? MOVE!!!
King:
Mars, you too! GO! Retrieve the stolen Orb from Kari. That's an order!
end of cut-scene
King:
Mars!! What are you waiting for? I ordered you to find Kari and recover the Orb! NOW MOVE!!!
Satera:
I thought that when you found me in the Mystic Wood, my nightmare would be ending...Oh Mars! It seems that it was only the beginning! You must stop them!
Scholar in King's bedroom:
The princess was acting as the King's royal taster, but she must have been poisoning him! Who could know she was actually Kari in disguise?
Man in King's bedroom:
I thought I heard someone arguing...Just as I thought, that Princess was a fake! How dare they steal the ley to the Treasury!
Woman #1 in throne room:
So...the one you rescued was the impostor...right? I'm so confused...
Woman #2 in throne room:
For a minute, I thought Kari was going to try to kidnap ME when she approached! Fortunately, she walked right past and down those stairs...go get her, Sir Mars!!
Woman #3 in throne room:
I have a new spect for the King after what I just witnessed! He was willing to sacrifise his daughter for the safety of Odegan! That took tremendous courage!
Woman #4 in throne room:
When Isr Kaizel drew his sword on the Princess, I couldn't look. It was so...scary!
Man #1 in throne room:
I'm glad I was not put in a position to choose between my daughter and my kingdom...
Man #2 in throne room:
The Chancellor got the word out quickly and all exits were successfully blocked!
Man #3 in throne room:
I thought that Pazort had given up any thought of taking Odegan, but apparently he hasn't.
Man #4 in throne room:
Mars, why are you wasting time up here? Everyone knows Kari headed downstairs!
Guard #1 outside throne room:
Since the enmy is a master of disguise, we cannot let anyone past this point. Who knows? It could be Kari!
Guard #2 outside throne room:
I heard that Kari was going toward the Royal Crypt. You'll have to hurry to catch her!
second floor
Guard #1, east wing:
Mars! You'd better make tracks for the Royal Crypt! Kari is probably almost there!
Guard #2, east wing:
By the Chancellor's order, I cannot let you pass...
Guard #3, east wing:
Listen up, I just found the best shortcut last month! Go down the stairs, exit to the center courtyard, enter the kitchen and walk through. It pisses off the cooks, but it's really the fastest way, and I know they wouldn't mind in this case.
Guard #1, west wing:
By the Chancellor's order, I cannot let you pass...
Guard #2, west wing:
All guards were suddenly called to man posts around the King's audeince chamber. No explaination was given. Do you know what happened in there?
first floor
Man #1, next to main hall:
Brrr...*shaking*..this turn of events has me so upset I'm shaking! Got any Kaopectate?
Man #2, next to main hall:
I simply cannot believe we are being attacked by pazort's evil minins in broad daylight! What kind of protection do you think you guys are giving us? This is an outrage!
Man #3, next to main hall:
I saw nothing out of the ordinary at this post. But, I heard Kari headed towards the Crypt. Why don't you take the shortcut through the courtyard to catch her?
Man #4, next to main hall:
This is one instance where your propensity for tardiness is not endearing, Mars. Get to the eastern gate through the courtyard and catch that traitor!
Guard #1, main hall:
Security has been increased to maximum levels, as the Chancellor ordered. I can't believe that Pazort will soon have the Orb Kari stole in his knurled hands!
Guard #2, main hall:
Mars! What are you doing here? Get to the Royal Crypt and catch Kari before she reaches Pazort!
Guard #3, main hall:
I can't believe that Kari was disguised as the Princess! I mean, she looked just like her!
Guard #4, main hall:
Who would have thought that our best soldiers could be coerced into helping the enemy? What a disgrace!
Guard #1 in garden:
Hurry, Mars! The Chancellor and Sir Kaizel went past here minutes ago! If you hurry, you may be able to catch them!
Guard #2 in garden:
Enter this door and exit the other side to be on the path to the Royal Crypt.
Guard #1, east wing:
Huh? Why are you going THIS way? Go through the east exit over there! The Chancellor and Kaizel are no doubt waiting for your assistance...
Guard #2, east wing:
You must have the worst sense of direction! The east exit is over THERE! This leads back into the castle......you freakin' over-promoted trainee...
Guard #1, outside east wing:
Ungghhh...
Guard #2, outside east wing:
Kari is...just...too powerful...
Chancellor:
We chased Kari to this point, but just as we were about to capture herm she summoned a monster. It made short work of all the soldiers with us, so you are the last hope to defeat it. Here......I...I know it's not much, but please take this healing herb to help you in battle...*Mars receives a Healing Herb*
Sir Kaizel:
Since everyone else was defeated, you are the last hope to defeat the monster Kari summoned. Failure is not an option for you. If you don't stop Kari she'll escape with the Orb! Please take this...it may help you in the heat of battle...*Mars receives 5 Healing Herbs!*
Boss battle, Karry's pet
Chancellor:
Most impressive, Sir Mars!
Chancellor:
But...what has become of that temptress, Kari? Don't tell me you let her escape?
Kari:
You will pay for slaying my favourite plaything, Mars! And, your paltry efforts at defending your precious land are detinated to fail! I have the Elemental Orb! Nothing can stop the events it has set in motion. Soon, all the Elements will be released and the Dark Titan will rise from its prison! If you feel the need to play the hero for what remains of your pitiful existance, you should know that the Sand Labyrinth is our first destination. Meet us there, if you dare...
Chancellor:
Oh dear! This is it! The end! The kingdom of Odegan is doomed, just as the ancient writings said! Now that the seals have been broken to free the Elementals, there can be to turning back! All is for naught!
Sir Kaizel:
No Chancellor...perhaps a ray of hope yet remains...Mars, you must pursue Kari! In the meantime, I'll report to the King that she escaped, but that you're on the case. Hurry now! You must stop Kari from releasing any Elementals!
Back in the King's room
King:
Well then, Mars, how did it go? Did you manage to find that scoundrel Kari?
King:
Wait...don't answer. The look on your face says it all...
Chancellor:
If he could not stop Kari, Pazort's minions must be well on their way to releaseing the Elementals!
Sir Kaizel:
Then it is imperative that our secret weapon, Sir Mars, go to the Sand Labyrinth at once!
Chancellor:
Yes, yes! Mars, you must go there at once and stop them before this get sout of hand! If they are not stopped, we will have to send MORE troops west to find the other Elemental Ors. That kind of expenditure is simply not in the royal budget! Don't you understand?
King:
If this progresses to that point, conditions in the realm will get much worse. You simply must stop Pazort and his minions at the Sand Labyrinth...for Odegan!
Sir Kaizel:
Mars, draw your sword.
Sir Kaizel:
To aid you in your difficult journey, the King has granted you this new sword. Count it as a token of the King's appreciation for your efforts thus far. You may leave your old one in the chest when you take the new.
Chancellor:
And, since the Sand Labyrinth is riddled with difficult passages, you may need better tools. Therefore, I have unlocked the Royal Treasury for you. Feel free to take al you desire.
King:
You are the final hope to ODegan, and all Palacia. You must do everything within your power to foil this plot belched from the black abyss.
end of cut-scene
King:
We were careless to allow the Orb to be stolen! It was our lone safeguard against the Titan! You see, the Orb serves as a key to all other Orbs. Combined together, they can open the Light Labyrinth, which contains the Shining Sword. That sword is so powerful that it is said to defeat any magic yet devised!
Chancellor:
This situation is nearly beyond my capacity to grasp, so large and dreadful is its scope! Were you not the son of Jiles, I would say it was hopeless...
Sir Kaizel:
The soldiers have been sent to the west to the Light Labyrinth, but I doubt they can defeat Pazort. If you find that the Earth Elemntal has been freed, you must head west also. There will be a chance to stop them as they try to release each Elemental from its labyrinth.
Woman #1, throne room:
You know, if women were guarding the treasury, kari never would've been able to enslave them. Men are such wimps...
Woman #2, throne room:
I'm not really up on my ancient lore and legend, but isn't it bad if the Dark Titan is revived?
Woman #3, throne room:
Sir Mars, you must try to stop Pazort and his minions at the Sand Labyrinth!
Woman #4, throne room:
I don't know what all this fuss over a dumb orb is all about. I mean, it's just some dumb little bubble. Get over it, everyone!
Man #1, throne room:
The very day the Princess was kidnapped, I knew you would be the one to save her. And now, I know that you will be the one that snatches all Palacia from the hand of destruction!
Man #2, throne room:
Sir Mars, I can't believe that you would bring a fake Princess into Odegan! You know, you're really the one responsible for the theft of the Orb! You'd better get it back, my friend!
Man #3, throne room:
Odegan will be in danger if the Titan is awakened by that stolen Orb...But, do you think it's really possible to revive it from the Catacomb Marsh? It's been so long...
Man #4, throne room:
I'm really seriously bummed that Kari is an agent of evil. I mean, with the body that chick has, she could easily be my angel of light! Hubba hubba...
Guard #1 outside throne room:
Before you returned, Odegan's soldiers left for the western district. They were ordered to find ther other Elemntal Labyrinths and stop Pazort.
Guard #2 outside throne room:
The forces the King was sent out to stop Pazort plan to ask the Hobbit Village for help.
Scholar in King's bedroom:
To enter the Elemental's sanctuary at the bottom of the Sand Labyrinth, one must place some kind of statue at the door, or so say the anient writings.
Man in King's bedroom:
Everyone's afraid of disaster, but I will stand by our great King until the end!
Satera:
Oh Sir Mars, you're safe! I was so worried! The palace guard said you were last seen fighting a terrible monster to the east. When I heard that, I feared that I might never see you again......but that was silly...right?
Woman in Satera's room:
"Sir Mars" this, and "Sir Mars" that...my word! The Princess will not stop talking about you! I'm beginning to get quite nauseous!
Guard, east wing:
This castle is just too quiet since the King sent the other soldiers out...I don't like it...
Guard, west wing:
When I saw you running around earlier, I thought you were out of your mind. But then, I heard the story of how you tried to capture Kari and I understood...
Alfred, sleeping quarters:
If the Princess you saved was the evil temptress Kari in disguise, why didn't the King demote you?
Man #1 in bed, sleeping quarters:
Zzzzz...*snore*...Zzzzzzz...
Man #2 in bed, sleeping quarters:
I saw a fantastic light shining from the west last night. I bet something big is happening in the western district.
Man at table, sleeping quarters:
I can't believe that we were attacked in broad daylight!
first floor
Guard outside west gate:
What are you doing, Mars? Going to the Sand Labyrinth? I hope you have the strength to overcome the monsters that have appeared near here. The last adventurer that left Odegan for the Sand Labyrinth hasn't returned!
Guard #1, west wing:
I don't understand why Kari chose such a bizarre creature for a pet! But then again, she's one strange creature herself...
Guard #2, west wing:
The King dispatched most of our soldiers to retrieve the stolen Orb. With so many men on the "case" as it were, we needn't fret, right?
Guard #3, west wing:
Most of Odegan's soldiers went west to the Labyrinths of the Elementals. I've heard it is very dangerous, and that makes me worry for their safety.
Man #1 next to main hall:
I'm so proud of the brave face our soldiers put on in this time of deep crisis. They're definately the best in all Palacia!
Man #2 next to main hall:
It's rumored that there's a wondrous treasure that allows the wearer to fly to the clouds! I heard it was in a cave to the west, but that it requires lots of skill to negotiate...That counts me out right there. I'm nothing but a Billy Bumblefingers...
Guard #1 in main hall:
The King sent most of the soldiers of Odegan west to search for the Elemental Orb that was stolen. I sure hope they know what they're getting in to...Pazort is a fearsome foe...
Guard #2 in main hall:
We were always interested in change, but we also forgot what true peace really is...Um...don't mind me, I'm rambling again, it seems...
Guard #3 in main hall:
Since the Chancellor okayed it, help yourself to the treasures. I just hope you know what you're doing...
Guard in garden:
Long ago, my grandfather told me that you got skill bu fighting in battles. I always thought that was funny since he was a yellow-bellied coward that never fought. But hey, you know grandparents!
Cook:
When Odegan's forces left here, they took the cooks with them. *sigh* Now I'm all alone.
Town
Guard at main gate:
This town is definately in need of a morale boost now that all the soldiers are gone. it's too bad Jiles isn't still around...he was always good for a yuk or two...
Guard at west gate:
I'm certain the soldiers aren't thrilled about going into some unknown battle. but, truth be told, I pity you more. The Sand Labyrinth is a very scary place...Say, if you are having trouble there, maybe the magicians here can give you some clues...
Woman outside church:
Since most of the soldiers were sent to the western district, only a few remain in the castle. I certainly hope it isn't attacked!
Woman at fountain:
I heard that some problem with the Princess is why all the soldiers were sent into battle. Does that make any sense to you?
Man at fountain:
I moved to Odegan because it was supposed to be peaceful! If a full scale war starts, I'm moving away...
Man in northeast corner:
I was quiten taken aback when I heard the news about the soldiers leaving. It was all so sudden...
Old man outside inn:
I wonder what could have promted the King to send all ODegan's soldiers away from the castle?
Man at gate:
Odegan's soldiers have been sent off to try to recover the Orb from pazort. In all the time I've lived here, this is a first.
Girl (blond):
I was surprised at how dejected the soldiers looked as they headed out. It certainly was not very encouraging for me...
Girl (red):
The Hobbit Elder showed me how he uses these special slide boots to get to his village. If you can find a pair, you can probably get there...
Boy outside magicians house:
The Hobbit Elder told me that the power of Lightning is needed to get to his village.
