Well, hello there! Let me just get up. Now, what can I do for you? Could it be that you're here for adventure?

Old Man:
Ah! I knew it!
[name] is it? I was expecting you!
There's something terrible going on in the kingdom of Thornwood. Something that I fear could plunge our world into eternal darkness.
With your help, [name], this can be prevented. It's all up to you.
From this point on, [name]...
... you are the son of Mortred...
and a Knight in the Kingdom of Thornwood.
I almost forgot! You've got two good friends now
When quitting
Old Man:
Nice to see you again. If you're taking a break, I guess I'll turn in.
Throne Room
Voice:
Sir [name]! The king awaits you! Please step this way.
Minister:
My liege, this is the one I spoke of.
King Drake:
Ah! Mortred's son and one of my finest knights! [name], isn't it? A fine name it is. A fine name indeed.
Minister:
Majesty, this lad wishes to join in the search for the Princess.
King Drake:
This was your idea wasn't it, Theos?
Theos:
Yes, Majesty. As you know, [name]'s father was with the Princess... and he's been missing along with her. [name] feels that finding the Princess will lead him to his father. Thus, he came to me and offered his services.
King Drake:
The Princess is believed to be somewhere in this realm. I only pray that she's safe.
Tristan! What say you?
Tristan:
With your permission, my liege. Of all my knights, this lad is the youngest. But he is second only to his father when it comes to swordplay.
King Drake:
I see. Well, if Tristan vouches for you, there is no room for doubt. [name]! Bring back my daughter! I'm sure she is somewhere in the realm waiting to be rescued!
Minister:
Take this gold, [name]. Equip yourself and then return here.
[name] receives 200 gold pieces.
Minister:
We'll talk when you return. You may take your leave now.
Village
Priest:
Wise are they who walk the path of the Ancients. For should they be wanting, my services are theirs for the asking. You seem to be fine in both body and spirit. [name] needs [#] more Experience Point(s) to reach the next level. Would you like me to record your adventure?

Come again, y'hear?!
Old Vik:
Har har har, that's a good one! What? Just a sec. Hiya, [name]. Sorry to hear 'bout your father. The Princess should've been safe with your father protecting her. In fact, there's some who blame him for what's happened!
Dyan:
My brother and I like to come here once in awhile for a bite to eat. But it seems like he has no appetite today.
Edward:
Talking to Dai and Dyan is one of the highlights of my day.
Dai:
I am a loyal knight and servant of Baron Vyrun. My lord is a gentle man, but he's not been himself lately.
Gnorn:
Nobody believes me when I tell 'em about the creature. It was ugly! I saw it the other night, on the hill outside the village.
Gnorn:
Hey, buddy! How's 'bout buyin' me a drink?
Tack:
Ignore him. He doesn't need another drink!
Tack:
I apologize for Gnorn's condition. He's really a nice guy, y'know.
Gatt:
The son of Mortred, my eye! Don't make me laugh! Whatcha lookin' at! C'mere and I'll show ya who's boss 'round here!
Mrs. Vik:
Don't mind him. I've never heard a pleasant word pass his lips.
Lupo:
So you're the son of Mortred the Brave. Kinda young to be huntin' for the Princess, aren't ya?
Mrs. Vik:
If it isn't [name]! Sorry to hear about your father, I hope he's alright. There are some who speak ill of your father, but don't let it bother you. Just keep in mind that we're behind you all the way! Should you need lodgings, just ring the bell on the counter.
Old Vik:
Lately, there's a lot of strangers around in search of the Princess. I assume you're looking for her too. Well, the best of luck to you.
Weapons shop owner:
Good day. If it's a weapon you seek, you're in the right place!

Throne Room, again
Theos:
His Majesty has been waiting for you!
Tristan:
His Majesty has been waiting for you!
Vyrun:
His Majesty has been waiting for you!
Minister:
His Majesty has been waiting for you!
King Drake:
[name]! I've been waiting for you! Minister! Provide him with all the details!
Minister:
Yes, Majesty. Listen well to my words, [name]. First things first, you must find the whereabouts of the Princess. It is said, she was last seen in the vicinity of the Labyrinth. But we haven't a clue as to whether she is in the Labyrinth or not.
A loud tremor. Mephisto appears.
Mephisto:
Greetings, King Drake.
King Drake:
Who... Who are you?!
Mephisto:
Excuse my somewhat sudden appearance. My name is Mephisto. And I've come to rule your realm. King Drake, you seem worried about the lovely Princess Jessa. Well worry no more, because I've got her safely tucked away.
Tristan:
Fiend of fiends!
Mephisto:
Whoa, Lord Tristan! Another move like that could be your last. Now, back to business. I want you out of here, Drake.
Vyrun:
You must be joking.
Mephisto:
Speak when you're spoken to, Vyrun! All I ask for is this kingdom. In return, you can have Jessa back. Now excuse me. I'll be back when you're ready to leave.
A loud tremor. Mephisto vanishes.
King Drake:
By the Blood of the Ancients! Jessa held captive by that animal!
Minister:
Go, [name]. Find the Princess. We're depending on you!
Theos:
I am Theos, the King's Counsel. I'm here to provide knowledge. Mephisto draws his power from the Darkness. His enemy is Light. He, who wields the power of Light, may triumph over Darkness.
Tristan:
[name], son of my dear friend, Mortred. Bring back the Princess! I pray that no harm has come to either the Princess or your father. Now go! Show Mephisto what it means to face a knight of the realm!
Vyrun:
We're fools to place our trust in this... this... boy!
Minister:
Baron Vyrun! Is that any way to address a guest of His Majesty?!
Vyrun:
My apologies, I'm afraid I've been edgy since the Princess disappeared. It's frustrating that my best men haven't even found a clue! [name], I wish you every success in your search.
By order of the King, Sir [name] may henceforth enter the Labyrinth.
Tavern, again
Old Vik:
Har har har, that's a good one! What? Just a sec. [name]! Some friends of yours were here looking for you a while ago. If you're smart, you'll avoid those two. They're nothing but trouble.
Lupo:
Baron Vyrun comes from a fine family. What's more, he's quite ambitious. Unfortunately, his ambition has resulted in the deaths of many men.
Gatt:
Whassamatter?! Y'wanna shiner like the one I'm wearin'? Buzz off!
Mrs. Vik:
Don't mind him. I've never heard a pleasant word pass his lips.
Tack:
Gnorn's been this way since he lost his job in the Labyrinth.
Gnorn:
I saw that thing up on the hill again. It scared me so bad, I almost soiled my trousers.
Dyan:
Dai's been summoned to the castle by Baron Vyrun.
Edward:
Dai and Dyan have lived with me since they lost their parents. It pains me to see Dyan worry so much about her brother.
If you ring the bell
Innkeeper:
Looking for a room for the night? That'll be 10 gold pieces.
Yes/No
If Yes
Innkeeper:
Good night.
You sleep.
Innkeeper:
Good morning.
If No
Innkeeper:
Not staying for the night? Well, stop by again.
End Yes/No
Old Vik:
Good morning. Did you sleep well? Have a nice day.
Krun:
This kingdom's no place for a traveling minstrel. How about a song before I go?
Yes/No[can be repeated]
If Yes
Krun sings a pulsing and intense song.
Krun:
Brings tears to your eyes, doesn't it?
If No
Krun:
How could anybody prefer a mug of ale over my music?
End Yes/No
Labyrinth
While wandering the labyrinth, the hero encounters a Kaiser Crab. After being slain, it drops the Royal Tiara. The hero takes the Royal Tiara.
Tavern
Lupo:
Is that Princess Jessa's ROYAL TIARA that you have there? I understand that it was a gift from King Drake to the late Queen.
Throne Room
Melvyl:
The ROYAL TIARA! Quick! Bring it forward to His Majesty!
Theos:
The ROYAL TIARA! Quick! Bring it forward to His Majesty!
Minister:
The ROYAL TIARA! Quick! Bring it forward to His Majesty!
Vyrun:
The ROYAL TIARA! Quick! Bring it forward to His Majesty!
Tristan:
The ROYAL TIARA! Quick! Bring it forward to His Majesty!
King Drake:
The ROYAL TIARA! I gave it to Jessa on her 12th birthday. I suspect that Jessa is somewhere within the Labyrinth.
Melvyl:
You say you found the TIARA in the Labyrinth?
Theos:
You say you found the TIARA in the Labyrinth?
Minister:
You say you found the TIARA in the Labyrinth?
Vyrun:
You say you found the TIARA in the Labyrinth?
Tristan:
You say you found the TIARA in the Labyrinth?
Minister:
I fear the worst, should the Princess be held in the Labyrinth Proper... there's no way you can rescue her by yourself. [name], I advise you to go and form a party for your search. It would be wise to choose only those that you can trust. I have something to give you, return to me after you form a party.
If you speak to Vyrun first
Vyrun:
I've heard that there's a secret entrance to the upper Labyrinth. Melvyl the Mage knows the Labyrinth well. Perhaps he can enlighten us.
Melvyl:
As you wish.
Melvyl:
The Labyrinth was once the proving ground for young knights. It's true challenge is in the upper levels known as the Labyrinth Proper. Only those deemed worthy by the Ancients can enter the upper levels. To prove his worth, a knight must face the Trials of the Ancients. It is said, that the way to the upper levels lies beyond an altar. Some have recently faced the Trials, but none have returned. For the Princess' sake, I pray that you are worthy enough.
Theos:
The Trials begin beyond a door that only opens with the DWARF'S KEY. There are four Trials
Vyrun:
Curses! Somebody'll have to face the Trials to save the Princess!
Tristan:
I knew you wouldn't come back empty-handed! Here, take this gold as a reward for all your troubles.
[name] hands over the ROYAL TIARA and receives 200 gold pieces.
Vyrun:
Heed well the words of the Minister. At this point, it would be folly to enter the Labyrinth alone. Didn't you have two good friends in the village? Why not bring them here?
Tavern
Pyra:
Okay, tell me. Where is he?
Old Vik:
You've got your nerve showing your face around here!
Pyra:
I'll show my pretty face anywhere I please! If [name] was here...
So there you are, [name]! What's wrong? What are you staring at?
Old Vik:
What's wrong?
He's just shocked to find a witch in my joint! Right?
Pyra:
Witch?! Me?! I'll have you know, I'm from a fine line of magic-users!
[name], Vik tells me you don't need my help. You do?! I knew it!
What'd I tell you?
Well, what are we waiting for?! Let's go!
Pyra joins you!
Old Vik:
Listen, [name]. Milo and her and nothin' but trouble. You're better off alone than teaming with them!
Outside Tavern
Pyra crashes into a lizardman.
Pyra:
Hey! Hold on there! Who do you think you're shoving around?!
Gila:
Whoa! Watch where you're goin', kid.
Pyra:
You're the one who bumped into me! C'mon! Apologize!
Gila:
That's not the way to speak to your elders, girl. You're the one who bumped into me! You watch it! Now, get out of here!
Pyra:
You have your nerve! Who the heck are you, anyway?! You don't look like a local.
Gila:
Me? I'm Gila. I'm a mercenary hired to find the missing Princess. I wuz lookin' for a good time, but I think I'll continue my search. I'll see you kids around.
Pyra casts a level 1 Slow spell!
Pyra:
He's in for a shock when he tries to run from the Labyrinth's monsters! Now, let's go find Milo.
Tavern
Old Vik:
Har har har, that's a good one! What? Just a sec. Hey, [name]! Milo was here from the Shrine looking for you. I wouldn't trust Milo. He's got shifty eyebrows.
Lupo:
I've heard you're plannin' to face the Trials of the Ancients. You'll need the DWARF'S KEY to open the Bronze Door in the Labyrinth.
Gatt:
If I'd learnta keep my trap shut, I wouldn't be in so much trouble. Whatcha starin' at!
Mrs. Vik:
Don't mind him. I've never heard a pleasant word pass his lips.
Tack:
If Gnorn was smart, he'd talk less and think more.
Gnorn:
Nobody believes me. They think I'm crazy. They'll be sorry.
Dai:
Baron Vyrun has ordered me to go into the Labyrinth. What's more, he's given me this key to do it.
Dyan:
My poor brother! The Baron has ordered him into the Labyrinth! I'll never see him again!
Edward:
Dai and Dyan have lived with me since they lost their parents. It pains me to see Dyan worry so much about her brother.
Shrine
Milo is in the Shrine. Regular Priest options first. Afterwards...
Priest:
Wait, Sir [name]! Please listen to what Milo has to say.
Milo:
[name], I've been looking all over for you! Pyra and I have been worried sick! If you're planning to go into the Labyrinth, I'm going with you!
Priest:
Since Milo wishes to join you, I ask that his wish be granted.
Milo joins you!
Throne Room
If Pyra but not Milo has joined
Tristan:
You need a holy man. Go back to the village and find one!
After Pyra and Milo join
Minister:
I see you've formed a party. Well, to face the Trials... you must pass through the Bronze Door in the Labyrinth. Here. Take this DWARF'S KEY to unlock the door.
[name] receives an item: DWARF'S KEY
Minister:
[name], I wish you every success in the Trials.
Vyrun:
I've decided to send my best men into the Labyrinth.
Tristan:
It's good to see that you're not alone anymore.
Theos:
Now, you'll first face the Trial of Strength. So heed my words! To pass the Trial, you need only defeat whatever crosses your path. Sounds easy, doesn't it? But remember, this is only the beginning.
King Drake:
[name]! You must earn the right to enter the Labyrinth Proper!
Tavern
Old Vik:
Hey [name]! Have you found the Princess yet? I heard, you're facing the Trials of the Ancients.
Lupo:
Is that the DWARF'S KEY that I see in your hand? Now that you have the key, all you need to do is open the Bronze Door.
Dai:
Baron Vyrun has ordered me to go into the Labyrinth. Should I succeed, it would mean a better life for my sister and me!
Dyan:
My poor brother! The Baron has ordered him into the Labyrinth! I'll never see him again!
